Meet Our pastor

Hello, my name is John Lyons.  My wife, Susan, and I were actively involved in our churches in Cornell and Odell, Illinois, where I also served as part-time clergy for Trinity Parish in Livingston County.  Coming from small communities, we felt called to continue our ministry in Pittsfield, Illinois and began serving at the Pittsfield United Methodist Church on July 1, 2023.

Since arriving, our time here has been exciting, rewarding and deeply fulfilling.  Together, we are blessed with a blended family of four children and several grandchildren who bring us great joy. We have truly enjoyed becoming part of this welcoming and supportive community, and it is an honor to serve both the church and the people of Pike County.

Sanctifying Grace

(Part 1) Growing Up in Love:

You'll Be Glad You did

What if following Jesus isn't just about being saved, but about being changed? This week we explore sanctifying grace - the grace that keeps working in us after we say yest to Christ. Through Jesus' encounter with the Samaritan woman at the well, we see how God transforms lives through love-filled relationships, breaks down barriers, and turns ordinary stories into powerful testimonies.  Sanctifying grace shapes how we love, forgive, and live with others, making our faith visible in everyday life. As we grow up in love, God doesn't just change individuals -- He transforms communities.  Come see how Jesus is still shaping us to love like Him.

God's blessings to you and your family

- Pastor John Lyons
